About
Gawah Bonga Foundation: Empowering Communities, Restoring Nature
Founded in 2021 by Burhanudin, the Gawah Bonga Foundation is a community-driven organization based in Lombok, Indonesia. Upon returning to his homeland after studying in Java, Burhanudin witnessed the pressing environmental and economic challenges his community faced. This inspired him to establish the foundation as a bridge between tourism, education, and sustainable development.
Our Mission
Guided by the principles of the "3E's"—Education, Ecology, and Economy—we are committed to empowering local communities while restoring Lombok’s natural ecosystem. Our core mission is to engage residents in combating deforestation, tackling unemployment, and promoting self-sufficiency through sustainable initiatives.

Managing a 96-hectare community forest (Hutan Kemitraan Masyarakat - HKM), we create a platform for conservation, education, sustainable tourism, and poverty alleviation

Hospitality Training ProgramsPartnering with PT Angkasa Pura I, we equip local communities with skills to enhance Lombok’s hospitality sector, ensuring they are well-prepared to welcome global visitors.

Community-Based Reforestation
We collaborate with organizations like the Invest Islands Foundation to educate locals about deforestation, climate change, and environmental conservation while implementing practical reforestation efforts.
